“Borgo Visconti” cigarette case

We could not miss a cigarette case ordered by Gabriele D’Annunzio, on which the poet wanted to engrave the motto that Giuseppe Visconti wrote on the coat of arms he painted on the walls of Grazzano Visconti village. On that coat of arms, the motto – if read upside down – said “ Do not care, and look up”: it was Giuseppe’s answer to all his detractors who accused him to have built the village in a kitschy and loosely megalomaniac way.

Giuseppe Visconti and the Poet were long-time friends, since when Visconti delighted in inventing fragrances that he asked the Poet to name.

Original personalities that made a period.
