This brooch is a gem of technique and talent. It is one of the “convertible” objects displayed at the Nocturne event, organized by the Haute Joaillerie de France in 1993.
During the same exhibition, Gianmaria Buccellati displayed some other creations with suggestive names, such as Dentelle Venetienne, Printemps and Volo Onirico.
The brooch is composed of two white gold flowers (108 diamonds of 2,34 carats) and of two faceted cabochon rubies weighing 1,65 carats. The whole is further embellished with four yellow gold leaves, “segrinato” engraved, with central shiny venations in shiny white gold. The brooch can completely be disassembled and reassembled into a pair of earrings with leaves or flowers, into a ring or into a clasp for a strand of gems.
The engineering for all these extraordinary changes is hidden in the folds of the gentle design, where some tiny screws allow to deconstruct and then to re-construct all the elements to fully exploit all the possibility to wear them.
